Snooker is traditionally seen as a man's game. Women are generally seen as being inferior. However, recent success by Asian female players has resulted in a new generation, and the future for women's Snooker looks bright.

The first women's ranking event in Australia was held in 2019. Nutcharut Wuthharuthai won the event. She is believed by be the first female to break 147. She was born in 1999.

Chitra Krishnamurthy (Asian lady snooker) is another Asian player. In 2008, she became the first Indian woman winner of the Australian Open Snooker Championship. She also won in 2011 the six-red Snooker Championship. In 2014, her first appearance in the Eden World Ladies Senior Championships took place. She has also reached the final of the Eden World Ladies Senior Championships.

Reanne Evans is the number one female snooker player in the world. She is currently the world champion and has won ten titles in world snooker. She has been invited wildcard to play on the men's touring in 2010/11. For her contributions to snooker, she was also awarded an MBE.


Reanne Evans was born and raised in Dudley, West Midlands. She began playing pool at the age of 14 and went on to become a professional in snooker. She has won eight titles in billiards or ball pool, as well as snooker. She is also currently the World Pool Championship holder. She has won the European Masters, and she is the most successful woman player in the UK.

Evans, then seven-and-a half months pregnant, won 2006 the ladies world title. She was the first woman to reach the main stages of a ranking event. She qualified for China's Wuxi Classic, where she defeated Thailand's Thepchaiya UN-Nooh 5-4.

Evans is the current world number one. She has won ten World titles and was awarded an MBE to acknowledge her service to snooker. She has been invited as a wildcard to participate in the professional tour 2010/11 season. She will compete for the UK in the final stages. She will face Neil Robertson, the world number two.

Reanne McIlroy is, Reanne Evans and Emma Bonney are all great female players. They are all former world number ones, and are some of the greatest snooker players of all time. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association believes there is no obstacle for women to snooker. There are currently only two women in the top 30 on the men's global rankings. But if the next generation of female stars can challenge the world's best players, the future of women's snooker should be bright.

There are many talented lady snooker players in the world, and the future looks bright. The sport is growing in the United States and other countries, and Mike Dominguez, owner of OX Billiards in Seattle, hopes to get the sport to grow in the U.S.
