The official rankings for professional snooker players are known as the world snooker ranks. These rankings determine who is eligible to participate in World Snooker Tour tournaments. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association maintains these rankings. In addition to providing players with an idea of their ranking, they provide useful statistics on the sport.

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan spent over 280 weeks at number one in world snooker. After reaching the semi-finals at the Tour Championship, his latest move saw him surpass Mark Selby in the rankings. The Scot was ranked world number one for the first time in May 2002. He has since won 31 ranking titles. He has won six World Championship titles as well as five UK Championships.


Mark Williams

Mark Williams, currently ranked number 10, is one of the most skilled snooker players around. The Welshman became a member of the elite in 1995 with his wins at the Welsh Open and Benson & Hedges Masters. He won the second title with a respotted-black in the final. He also won three ranking tournaments in 1998, becoming the fourth player to win three titles in a single season.

Graeme Dott

Graeme Dott was awarded two ranking titles. In 2010, he reached the final of China Open. His form has been inconsistent ever since. He has also been diagnosed with depression and has publicly discussed his struggle with it. The Australian is not ranked in the top ten of the world snooker rankings. But, he has an excellent record at home.

Dott's professional career

Graeme Dott began his professional career in 1994 and has steadily climbed the ranks of world snooker. He made it to the top 16 in 2001, and he remained there until 2009. He reached the quarterfinals for the Welsh Open in 1996. He was also runner-up at the 2005 Malta Cup and the 2004 World Championship. In 1999, he broke his first 147-level competitive break at the British Open.

Dott has had a fluctuating ranking in world snooker rankings over the years. Six times he reached the top 16. He was ranked second in 2007/8 season. Dott has been ranked lower since 2007.

Mark Williams' ranking

Mark Williams' ranking in world snooker has steadily risen over recent years. He has won many tournaments, including in the Players Championship Grand Final 2000. Ronnie O'Sullivan also lost the final. He has also been at the top of the world rankings several times. His biggest ranking victory came in 2001 against Anthony Hamilton at the China Open.
