Cutthroat is a game that can be played between three and five people. The rules are similar to 8-ball pool, where each player gets a set and the other has to take their ball. There are additional rules, however, that differ from 8 ball pool.
Players will need to assign the balls to their groups and agree on the time of the shots. Each group is made up numbered balls. There are 5 to 5 of each. The first player to make a ball chooses a set of balls to shoot for and the rest of the players can start shooting once that player has made the first shot.
The most important thing to remember when playing cutthroat: the cueball must stay between the table's head cushion and the rail. A foul is committed when a player accidentally throws the cueball off the table. If a foul is committed, the player must spot the ball again and then lose their turn.

Cutthroat is played using a triangular-shaped rack. Players usually rack one ball in front of them, and the remaining balls are placed in the corners of the triangle. The number of players in the game will determine which corners are racked. Players need to decide beforehand how they will call their shots in order to avoid a messy break.
Typically, each player will take turns calling their shots, and they can only stop when a foul or miss occurs. There are many rules that will govern the way balls are identified. If a ball is spotted with the shooter’s ball on it, the object ball must also be seen on the rail. This increases the likelihood of the shooter scoring, and it makes the job harder for the other players.
Cutthroat has no draw. If the shooter's ball and the opponent's make contact with the rail, it is called a draw. Cutthroat is not a game of draws. If a ball is not spotted, the players will accept it as a group.
Cutthroat is a fast-paced game that requires players to constantly shoot. Cutthroat's main objective is to eliminate all remaining players. When this goal has been achieved, the player wins.

Cutthroat is best played with three to five players. It can be played with two or more players depending on how many there are. A team has a greater chance of winning if each player is proficient in the game. But it can still be fun to play with two or three players. There are simple rules for pool, but there are also advanced strategies. Learning new skills can be fun while still having a lot to do.
